Stand with families
We stand with and support families affected by the loss of their livelihoods or a loved one, at every step.
SUpholding the rights of the victims of human-wildlife conflict, and developing the cultural and socio-economic potential of the rural world.
On 15 May 2021, Ngoma Christ Jannel Wadel, aged 24, was killed by an elephant near the village of Mivemba, between Tchibanga and Mayumba. He had gone out to find food when he came face to face with an elephant that gave him no chance.
He left behind a pregnant partner. The charity now carries his name, so that this tragedy was not in vain.

I descend from the first people of the forest, the Barimba, through my great-grandmother, Moussavou Maganga. I spent my first six years with her, and during every school holiday I returned to the village, where I spent most of my time with family: fishing, hunting, working the plantations that allowed our grandparents and parents to provide for us all, and meeting members of other clans of the forest people, such as the Babongo and Baka, tribes of Central Africa.
Those encounters taught me respect for the forest. We learned its signs, the songs of its rivers, its sounds and its scents, and above all to take only what we needed. I lived in the forest, and I live among people, so I believe in the coexistence of species. It has been done before. Because we care, we must do what is right for both people and wildlife in Gabon.
